Conference Weekend

Had another lovely Conference Weekend. There were some great talks, and it was wonderful to hear from our new Prophet and new apostle. I think my favorite part about Conference weekend is that it is spent with family. I usually try to keep my hands busy while listening, so I made a new necklace.
It's a turquoise pendant with faceted citrine nuggets. I actually bought the citrine beads this weekend at a bead fair in Salt Lake. I went with my mom during the priesthood session. They were a little spendy, but too pretty to pass up! They're quite large (the turquoise pendant is about 1.25" diameter to give you an idea) so it's a pretty bold piece, but the design is still simple.

I also went for a walk with Brian on Saturday afternoon to take pictures for photography class. Here's a picture that I took:
And here it is after some Photoshop action:

And here it is after A LOT of photoshop action:

The second one is my real assignment. The third one was me showing Brian all the cool things you can do with photoshop. Please note the twinkle in the eye, and the bling on the finger. I think I'm better at the jewelry "art" than the photography "art", but it's been a fun class.

*Spell check does not recognize the word "bling".

Nice work all around! That necklace is especially gorgeous. (I wanted to take that photo class with you, but by the time I was ready to sign up, it was full! I was bummed. Glad you're enjoying it, though.)

Love the necklace!

Cool necklace! And you may need to sell photos in your Etsy shop - I would pay good money for a print of the falling leaves and bling. :)

I'm torn about photoshop. One day I love it because it makes my pictures look beautiful, and the next I hate it because I've been deceived by what I think is a lovely photograph only to learn it is not real at all. It plays mean tricks with my emotions.
Love the necklace. Are you selling it or keeping it?

You'll have to teach me some photoshop some day. I haven't really played with it ever, and it looks like you know the basics.

Love the necklace made with the new aquisitions. I worked on a necklace too. It was one I had already made and didn't like. It took quite a bit or remodeling. I'm not much jewelry designer, but it is now finished and I like it. I will show it to you sometime. I wonder if there is a market for tiny pieces of used silver wire? Love your photo too.

Mom-
I can't wait to see your necklace! You should take pictures and we could post them on the family blog. As for used silver, I save mine, and plan on looking around for somewhere to recycle. It feels wasteful not to.

So what are you saying? My pictures are bad?

No, just that we're always trying to improve, that's all. Plus I love the Photojojo blog, and wanted to share it with you.
