Pay It Forward Giveaway #2

Remember that Pay It Forward Giveaway I started like, a long time ago? Well, I finally got around to finishing number 2 of 3! Stacey and I have known each other since Junior High. We went to many a Saturday Night Dance together, made some long drives out to Bahama Bucks and ASU West, sometimes in the same night, in spite of the fact that they are in opposite directions! I even wore a hot pink bridesmaid dress for this girl! We pretty much saw each other every day for four years straight. We kind of went our separate ways during college, but she couldn't stand to be away from me any more and moved to Utah! I made her two different pairs of earrings. The first is Moonstone drops accented with black garnet (very sparkly) on hoop closures. The second pair is red zircon drops also accented with black garnet. I hope you love them Stacey!

Shop Update

I've updated the shop with several new pairs of earrings. I got into a bit of an earring making frenzy on Monday. Let me know what you think!

And They're Off!

I shipped out my auction items today! I've been so inspired and touched by the generosity of so many people throughout this whole experience. The auctions at A Room Somewhere alone raised nearly $3,000! I know it's a small contribution to what will be astronomical medical bills, but I also know that every bit helps lift the burden now placed on this lovely family, and I know it is appreciated. A special thanks to Leslie and DesignMom for enabling my participation. And a special thanks to Fran and Laura who bought my items. I hope you love them!

Nie Nie Day

I've been reading everywhere, as I'm sure a lot of you have, about tragic plane crash that left this couple in critical condition. I have a tendency to feel so helpless when I hear about things like this. Fortunately, there are people in this world who don't flounder like me. They act. And they encourage the rest of us to join in. Leslie, who's blog I've loved ever since she was a guest mom on Design Mom, has invited any interested to participate in a blog auction on her site, and since I'm certain she has more readers in a week than I get in a year, I figured I'd participate in hers. She will be auctioning off the below necklace, as well as a pair of earrings. Please tell your friends and of course, bid away, because you've been wanting those earrings for a while now anyways, and this time it's all going to the worthiest of causes. Auctioning begins this Thursday and goes all weekend. Spread the word, and by all means, auction off your own items. Every little bit helps.

By Their Fruits

The first of our harvest! This pepper is supposed to be all yellow, but only got sun on one side, so we'll let it finish ripening in the window.

And we have one jalapeno pepper so far, but there is the promise of several more in the future.

And this last one's for Karla. They're still alive!

Craft for the Road

So remember how I said I wanted to learn how to embroider? Well my sweet and talented mother, from whom I have learned pretty much everything, said she would teach me. I embroidered some little baby shirts for my sister who's expecting her third boy. I just found images on the Internet that I liked, printed them in the size I wanted, and traced the image onto the shirt using a washable marker. Then I just followed the lines using the stitches my mom taught me. I learned in the car on the way to Waterton, and actually did two of the three in the car on the way home. I'm definitly a beginer, but it was fun to learn, and I think they turned out pretty good.

I'm Back, Baby!

But I'm being lazy when it comes to posting, so here's some things I found blog surfing today. First, these cool photographs found here, taken by Catherine Ledner.

I really love that one of the ibis. It makes me wonder, how does one secure an ibis for a photo shoot?

And I'm trying to come up with a good reason to make this delicious sounding ice cream. I'll let you know if I think of one.

Catch-Up

It's been a while since I posted, but that's because I've been getting ready to leave town for a week...and I probably won't be doing any posting then either...but to tide over all you dedicated readers, here's some pictures of what I've been up to recently. The first two are of a little get-together I had with the girls from BYU Info. Yes, people, I am wearing flat shoes. I fully embrace my shortness.

The last three are of the infamous ("in-famous?") Patio of Fire. This was the first year I actually participated in the festivities. I was the official t-shirt launcher. I think I did a pretty good job considering I only learned how to operate said launcher a few minutes before the show. Unfortunately, I have no photographic evidence of my mad skills, so you'll have to come next year and see them in person. Also, I'm proud to announce my very own husband was the winner of the "Andrew Scott Ringer Lifetime Achievement Award For Freedom Promotion and Recognition". Notice my rock star's shirt, it's the one Austin and I made him for Christmas. Also notice his totally rock-n-roll white tennis shoes with ankle socks. Remind me to help him dress for this next year. Thanks to all my friends and family who came!

Well, like I said, I'm going out of town for about a week, but I'm sure I'll have lots of pictures to post when I get back.

P.S. Three of the 5 pictures in this post were completely stolen from friends blogs. Basically if it's a decent picture, I probably didn't take it. I'm only capable of taking pictures of things that remain completely motionless. Hope you guys don't mind!

Well, since you all like the green and gold necklace, here's a detail shot. You can see all the different colors of aquamarine better in this shot. I'll have to take better pictures before I post them on etsy.

Busy Bee

My rock star husband is living it up golfing this weekend, so I kept myself busy creating some new pieces. Let me know what you think.




The necklaces will both go on etsy (eventually, I tend to take a while at getting around to posting). Notice the one with green stones is made with gold wire. This was my first try at using the gold wire, and I like it. It's a lot more malleable than the silver wire. The smaller stones on this necklace are aquamarine, and I'm not sure what the green stone is. The dangle blue earrings are for a friend at work. They are made of kyanite (the blue drop stone) and moonstone. The pink necklace is rose quartz, moonstone, and clear seed beads. The last pair of earrings are made with mookaite (the yellow stones) and I'm not sure what the blue stones are.
